2027 MCAT Registration Opens October 20–22: Your Checklist

When Does 2027 MCAT Registration Open?
AAMC says scheduling for all 2027 MCAT test dates opens over three days: October 20, 21, and 22, 2026. Each day begins at noon Eastern, and your correct opening day depends on the location of the testing center you want—not where you currently live.
Start with AAMC's location schedule and identify the day assigned to every state or territory you would realistically test in. If you live near a state line or could travel, two acceptable centers may open on different days. That makes location part of the decision, not an afterthought.

How the Registration Waiting Room Works
AAMC advises students to enter the registration system no more than 15 minutes before the noon opening. At 11:50 a.m. Eastern, people already present are assigned a randomized place in line. Arriving hours early does not create an advantage.
After the opening, new arrivals join behind the randomized group. The practical strategy is therefore simple: be ready shortly before 11:50, use a stable connection, and avoid repeatedly refreshing or opening multiple sessions. The queue is a logistics step, not a test of who wakes up earliest.
Join shortly before the waiting room assigns positions. Logging in far earlier does not improve your place.
Complete This Checklist Before Opening Day
Registration day should be for selecting an appointment, not correcting account details. AAMC tells examinees to use their existing AAMC ID and to make sure the personal information entered during registration matches an accepted photo ID.
Read the current MCAT Essentials before registering because you must agree to its terms. Then confirm your account access, write down your preferred centers and dates, and have a payment method ready. Students with approved testing accommodations should follow the advance-scheduling instructions AAMC sends them rather than assuming the standard queue is their only path.

- Prepare preferred and backup dates, centers, and payment information.

Resolve account and identification issues now. Every minute spent fixing them during registration reduces your options.
Choose a Testing Window, Not One Perfect Date
Popular dates and locations can fill quickly. AAMC recommends having multiple date options, and that is also better study planning. One rigid date encourages an emotional choice when the preferred seat disappears; a testing window lets you choose the next option without abandoning your preparation timeline.
Build your shortlist backward from when you need a score, then compare it with your realistic preparation runway. For each date, note the test center, travel burden, and the weeks available for full-length practice. Rank at least three combinations before the queue opens.
- First choice: ideal date and center.
- Second choice: nearby date at the same center.
- Third choice: acceptable date at a different reachable center.
A ranked list of acceptable appointments protects your application timeline better than one all-or-nothing choice.
What to Do Immediately After You Book
Save the confirmation and verify the date, local start time, and testing-center address before leaving the system. Put the appointment and the relevant change deadlines on the same calendar you use for school or work.
Then turn the appointment into a study constraint. Schedule diagnostic checkpoints, full-length exams, and review days backward from test day. A booked seat is useful only when it changes what you do each week.
Confirm the appointment, record every deadline, and immediately translate the test date into weekly preparation milestones.
