What counts as Science (BCPM)?

AMCAS classifies every college-level course into a discipline. Only four count toward the Science GPA: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math. Biochemistry counts as Chemistry under AMCAS even if your school files it under biology. Psychology, sociology, public health, and most computer-science courses are not BCPM.

What is a competitive science GPA?

The AAMC reports the median MD matriculant science GPA is roughly 3.74. Most successful applicants land between 3.6 and 3.9. A lower GPA is workable with a strong MCAT and a clear upward trend.
